In windows, press the “Windows button + Print Screen.” In some computers, it doesn’t work. So you can try with these commands. “Windows button + ctrl +Prt Sc” or “Windows button + Fn +Prt Sc.” If you are using a tablet computer, you can try pressing the “windows logo +volume down button,” or you can use third-party software.
When you take a screenshot as a file, your monitor will dim for a moment. Your images will save in pictures/Screenshot folder.
Take screenshots without saving
In windows, you can also take screenshots without saving. Here you can choose your favorite editor and go to edit>paste. Then you can edit your Screenshot. In these images, dimensions are the same as the dimensions of your window. To take screenshots without saving, press “Prt Sc.”
Take screenshots of the only active window
If you want to take a screenshot of only your active window, you can do it. Press “Alt + Prt Sc” or press “Alt + Fn + Prt Sc.” After pressing these buttons go to your editor and paste it. If you have any questions about your “Prt Sc” buttons, please check your computer manual.

Then drag and select your wanted area. Your Screenshot will be saved in the clipboard. Then go to your favorite editor and paste it and save it.
Method 2 – Take screenshots with sniping tool
In windows 10, you have provided an inbuilt screenshot system. This method is the oldest screenshot system. It comes from windows vista, and unfortunately, windows didn’t provide any update for this tool. You can open this software by searching for “Snipping Tool” or click the bottom right corner of your screen(Windows 10 only). Then select “Screen snip.”
After opening by searching the snipping tool, You have some options to take a screenshot. They are,
- Free-form Snip
- Rectangular Snip
- Window Snip
- Full-screen Snip
And also, this tool has an error. It can’t capture popup windows. So you have to use the print screen button again.
But in windows 10, you have an option to capture popup windows and tooltips. So you can do it like this. Firstly open the Snipping tool and click delay. Then select how much time do you want to wait until you set up your window. Then choose your mode (Free-form, rectangular, window, Fullscreen) and set up your window within 1 -5 seconds.

Windows 10 ships with capabilities to capture and record your screen. It comes with the Xbox app. Here you can take screenshots and record your screen. The Xbox game has many features. But here we want only taking screenshots. First of all, to active Xbox game bar press “windows button +G.” Then the screen will pop up a window like this.
